Perspective

As long as you only look at parts...
and not the whole...

our yard looks fine, but stand back...
and it's another story! We've got some new landscaping projects in the works (like redoing the whole front yard) so while most yards around town are becoming more beautiful by the day this spring, ours is pretty much an eyesore. Sorry, neighbors!

More Soccer!

Yes, it's another soccer post -this time it's Scott's turn. As you can see, it was a beautiful evening for soccer (finally) and it was a great game. OHS (JV team) ended up winning 6-0. When it was near the end and the score was 4-0 our coach let a couple of defenders switch places with the offense just for fun, so Scott got to play forward for 10 or 15 minutes. Believe it or not, he ended up scoring their last two goals. He never gets to score since he plays defense, so he thought that was pretty cool.

Did you know soccer is non-contact sport?

Not sure what he's doing here.

Scott gives as good as he gets on the contact end of things. He usually ends up with at least one foul per game.

I had to include this picture because this ball ended up going in the net for Scott's first goal.

Happy Birthday Kevin!

Happy Birthday to Kevin today! I can't believe this sweet little blue-eyed dimpled baby is now a rough and tumble sweet big blue-eyed dimpled teenager. Where did the years go?

Matt's Soccer

Our schedule has been a little crazy with soccer this spring, but I love watching the games and Matt's are no exception. Each season he seems to play a little more aggressively and get a little better. His whole team has really improved this year. Yesterday they played one of the best teams in the division and it was a very exciting game. They ended up losing 5-4 (unless you count the goal they scored after the final whistle was blown and they other team left the field) but it was a great game. Matt has scored a goal in each of his first two games. Camille took all these pictures because I was too busy watching and cheering and was being a slacker photographer.

Easter Weekend in Manti

Easter Eggs

Following strings to find their Easter baskets

The new stake center being built on the land Grandpa donated to the church just up the road from the Manti house.

Manti temple at night

This is the old granary next to the Manti house that was about to fall down. Grandpa has just finished renovating it into a cute little guest house. The kids loved sleeping in it -they were the first ones ever!

Camille and Scott slept in the beds downstairs and Matt and Kevin slept in sleeping bags in the loft upstairs. They were all very cozy, even when it snowed!

The RC car was a hit.

All in all, a fun weekend. We enjoyed watching conference, playing games, and being together. The only downside...we were afraid to leave the pets home alone so we brought them with us. Spunky was fine -he never wanders and he stayed right by the house when he was outside. We kept the cat inside until he was crying to go out at 6:00am the first morning. He has stopped using a litter box and likes to go outside to use the bathroom, maybe from watching Spunky, I don't know. Well, I let him out and he promptly disappeared. We looked for him all that day and the next until we left. The kids made "lost cat" signs and placed them around Manti and we left word with the neighbors, but there was no sign of him when it was time to come home. Such a good cat -everyone's pretty sad about it.

April Fools!

I guess it had been a while since I'd made meatloaf cupcakes for April Fools dinner because I totally fooled Matt. "Cupcakes for dinner?!" he said. "Hey, that's not frosting!" He thought it was the funniest thing ever.
But the April Fools we still talk about around here is the time we bought a cheap pack of sports cards and mangled them and spread them around the floor. Then we sent Spunky downstairs and sent Scott down to get him, so he'd think Spunky ate all his prized cards. I still feel a little bad about that one, but it sure was funny.

Mother Nature got the first and last laughs today. We woke up to this and went to bed to a wild lightning and thunder storm.
