For the last couple of years Camille has been giving Matt piano lessons. It's a pretty good deal for everyone. We get a cheap piano teacher right in our living room, Camille earns a little money, and Matt thinks it's pretty fun to learn from his sister. There's no other students or parents to give a recital for, though, so Matt performed for just us tonight. Here is his "recital", bare feet and all (another perk.)

New Friend
This buck was in the field behind our house this afternoon. He was either very tame or very lazy because he sure didn't want to go anywhere, even when we let Spunky out into our backyard. After I took these pictures he walked around a little, then he lay down in the center of the field and stayed there until dark. If he's there tomorrow we'll name him. :)

Soccer Banquet
Camille's soccer season has been over for a while now, but the end of year banquet was last night. All the seniors were honored and awards were given -a nice end to the season. Camille earned Academic All-State honors and her team voted her Best Defensive Player. Her coach had nice things to say about her. He said that she was the backbone and heart of the team. He also said that although she wasn't the most athletic, fastest, strongest, etc., she worked the hardest, and was probably the smartest and made the fewest mistakes of any sweeper he had coached. She did have a great season. It's a hard position to play, because you have to watch the whole field and direct the entire defense, as well as get into position yourself. Towards the end of last year she said it seemed to click with her, and she began to develop a feel for where she needed everyone to be, and this year she gained a lot more confidence.

Mad Skillz
Guess what I learned how to do? Next time you need a frosting flower you know where to come! Now that's a valuable life skill, right? It took me all of the ReAl Salt Lake game last night, but I made almost 100 frosting flowers for a birthday cake for Camille's party tonight. Why, you ask? Good question!
Here's the finished product. I took a picture now because it still has to be transported to the cabin along with 9 girls, so who knows what it will look like at her actual party.
Wish me luck tonight!

Happy Birthday, Camille!
The birthdays continue! 2009 is turning into a milestone year for our family. First Kevin turned 12, then John and I celebrated our 20th anniversary, then Matt turned 8, then I turned well, you know, and at the end of the year Scott will turn 16. And on Sunday we celebrated another big birthday -our sweet little Camille turned 18! I can hardly believe it, but I checked the dates and it's really true! It seems like yesterday that I was putting bows in her hair and pushing her on the swings. It has been a wonderful 18 years and I am proud of the person she has become. She's always fun to talk to and laugh with and I'll miss her next year when she leaves for college. She sets high goals for herself, and always does her best. She never takes the easy way out. I look forward to seeing her accomplish many goals in the future.
